The Elements of the Periodic Table

Every student has been assigned an individual element to study and create a presentation for on this wiki.
Each student will post their element presentation on their assigned element page. (This is an individual project.)
The research must be presented in one of the following four formats:
  • Prezi
  • Glogster Poster
You will need to JOIN THIS WIKI SPACE in order to complete the project. To the left, you will find a link to your specific element.
This project is due on: Monday, March 16, 2015 . The wiki page will be locked at 2:35 PM.


1. You need to create a wikispaces account to become a member of the class page.

  • Click on the “Join” link at the top right-hand side of the “agostineelements” page.
  • Create an account using your last name and first initial. (If your username is taken, add a number to the end.)
  • WRITE DOWN your user name and password (I can't retrieve it for you if you forget it!)
  • Once you are signed in, click on the “join this wiki” link located at the top left side of the page.
2. Once joined, you will need to research your assigned element.
3. Your element presentation must answer the following questions: (30 points)
  • What are the name, symbol, atomic mass and atomic number of your element?
  • What are the isotopes of your element?
  • What is the history of your element? Who discovered your element?
  • What are some of the ways in which your element is used?
  • What are the properties of your element?
  • What, if any, are some common compounds that contain your element?
4. Your element presentation must include at least two of the following (for a total of two items, ex. 1 picture, 1 video): (10 points)
  • Pictures
  • Video
  • Sound
  • Interactivity
5. Your element presentation can be in one (or more) of the following formats: (4 points)
  • Prezi
  • Animoto
  • Glogster
6. You must cite at least 3 sources at the bottom of your element page or in your presentation. (6 points)
7. If you add more info than is required above, you will get extra credit. (5 points Extra Credit)

Requirements and Other Important Info
  1. Due Date: March 16, 2015 at 2:35 PM.
  2. Total Points: 50
  3. Late projects will lose 50% of whatever points are earned.
  4. Format - You MUST post your project/presentation to the designated page. To do so, you must become a member of this space. No exceptions! (Your user name MUST be your last name and first initial.)
  5. If you do not join this space by the end of your lab period, you will lose citizenship points.
  6. You will have three class periods to work on this project. You must work on the project for all three periods. If you choose to play games or work on something other than your project, you will lose your laptop privileges!
  7. If you do not finish your project in class, you are required to complete it outside of class.
  8. You must cite all your sources at the bottom of your element page or in your presentation.
  9. You will need at least three sources. If you have less than 3 sources, you will lose points!
  10. Sites must be appropriate and reliable. You may not cite Wikipedia.
  11. You may not cut and paste. This is plagiarism and will result in a grade of zero for the project.
